Fat slice.

There is a little gem of a restaurant in San Francisco that I found out about when I was 18. It’s tucked away in the furthest corner of the Mission and serves something I LOVE that most people have never heard of. It’s called Zantes and they make: INDIAN PIZZA. I’m not sure if they invented this or if you can get it anywhere else but it is DELICIOUS! There are only two options: Meat or Non Meat. That’s it. The pizza tastes like a thick warm nan bread with curry and veggies liberally spread over the traditional mozzarella cheese.

I was thrilled when we went to a dinner party at my friend’s Chris and Allison’s house recently and they figured out a way to make Indian pizza at home. It’s ever bit as good as the Zantes variety so if you can’t get to Zantes, you can try this one at home.

You’ll need: one bag of pizza dough (from trader joes or any grocery store) and a bag of pre-made korma sauce (they purchased the bag we used from Cost Plus, but you can also order it from the Tasty Bites website.
For the toppings you’ll need mozzarella (about three cups of shredded cheese), curry powder, tomatoes, cauliflower, a small yellow onion and cilantro.

First, knead the pizza dough on a floured surface and work out into a round crust. They had a pizza pan on hand, but you can also use a baking stone or normal baking sheet.

Spread the entire bag of korma sauce over the crust. Thinly slice the onion and chop the cauliflower. Make a paste of a little oil with the curry powder in a stirfry pan and sautee the onions and cauliflower in it until soft and cooked all the way through.
Arrange slices of tomato on the sauce on the pizza and cover with the cheese. The pour the onion/cauliflower mixture over the top. Bake at 425degrees for fifteen minutes or until crust is brown and cheese is melted. Sprinkle with chopped cilantro before serving.

Seriously? If I’d known I could make this at home I would have been eating it nonstop. This is addicting. You are warned.
